Tampere. Johannes Pääsuke — a man with two cameras

07.10.2005

Johannes Pääsuke was a pioneer of both photography as well as cinematography in Estonia. His lively pictures of Estonian people, towns and villages belong among the pearls of the Estonian photographic art.
From 7 to 23 October the Estonian Institute presents the exhibition compiled by the Estonian National Museum in the old library of Tampere, Finland. The large pictures have an exellent quality, the secret of which lies in the glass negatives that make it possible to enlarge a photo to practically any size without losing its quality.
The exhibition was very popular in Estonia, and was shown in the Museum of European Cultures in Berlin in spring 2004.
