Budapest. Apartment House and Settlement

12.10.2005

The annual exhibition of the Union of Estonian Architects ‘Apartment house and settlement’ opens on 12 October at 5.30 pm in the Central European Cultural Institute (Budapest 1088, Rákóczi út 15).
The exhibition encompasses the creation of more than 30 architecture bureaus and close to 70 objects. We look at apartment houses in city centres and locations of noteworthy milieu in Tallinn, Tartu, and Pärnu, as well as in new settlements outside the city limits.
At this annual exhibition, we concentrate on apartment and row houses, double houses, and hostels in settlements, the Tartu Prison being viewed as an independent settlement.
The objects are introduced through design layouts and written explanations by architects, supported by visual photo material provided by the organisers of the exhibition. By the help of aerial and panoramic photos, the visitor is able to feel the general impact of the city-space.
Authors of exhibition are architects Urmas Luure and Arne Maasik, designer is Terje Kallast and the photographs are made by Arne Maasik.
The exhibition stays open until 2 November.
