A rare tere - Estonian Days in Scotland

01.11.2005

In the co-operation of the Estonian Institute, Estonian ministry of foreign affairs, the embassy in London, ministry of culture, Enterprise Estonia and many other Estonian and Scottish partners the first Estonian Days in Scotland are held from 1 to 9 November all over Scotland.
During the Estonian Days more than 30 different events take place, covering art, music, sports, science and business. These are not limited to the bigger centres. For example a business seminar for Estonian and Scottish businessmen takes place in Monifieth, county Angus and Estonian folk musicians visit Inverness in the Scottish Highlands and the Shetland islands.
The Scottish Parliament is the venue for two exhibitions compiled by the Estonian Institute: the aerial photo exhibition ‘Bird’s Eye Estonia’ by Endel Grensmann and the exhibition about the Estonian-Scottish relations in history called ‘At the same latitude’. In addition to this, the Estonian Institute publishes a special issue of the bi-annual magazine ‘de cultu civili estonico/Estonian Culture’.
