Tallinn. The sixth issue of 'Estonian Culture'

01.11.2005

The sixth issue of the Estonian Institute's cultural magazine '…de cultu civili estonico/Estonian Culture' has just come out.
The current issue of the biannual English-language magazine, published simultaneously with the opening of the Estonian Days in Scotland, looks on a number of topics that join the two countries. Thus, the issue includes articles about the mournful fate of the Scottish mercenaries in Estonia during the Livonian War, about the similar history of the Celtic and Finno-Ugric languages and about a musical instrument which the Estonians and Scots share — the bag pipe.
‘Estonian Culture’ is distributed by the Estonian Institute in Tallinn and its branch offices in Budapest, Stockholm, Helsinki and Paris, as well as through the Estonian embassies and consulates, and also to universities where Estonian is being taught.
Beside articles in English, the online version of the magazine also contains a selection of originals in Estonian.
