Hämeenlinna. Ski-fest Tartu marathon

09.10.2006

The Estonian Institute together with Estonian Sports Museum and Lahti Ski Museum has arranged an exhibition about the Tartu marathon, key event in Estonian skiing, to be displayed in the town of Hämeenlinna in the Häme region.
From 9 to 31 October the exhibition is open at the Finnish Artillery Museum in Hämeenlinna. 'Ski-fest Tartu marathon' is being opened by lieutenant colonel Seppo Rehunen and member of the board of the Tartu Marathon Club Madis Lepajõe.
The exhibition tells in word and pictures the story of the most popular sporting event and about its present day. The whole undertaking started with a group of friends competing on the ice of the Emajõgi River. Soon it became an international sporting event and a hugely popular gathering of people.
Before Hämeenlinna the exhibition was open at the Lahti Ski Museum, in November it will travel to Hauho and in December the 'Ski-fest Tartu marathon' arrives to Forssa.
