Tallinn. The seventh issue of ‘Estonian Culture’

30.06.2006

The seventh issue of the Estonian Institute's cultural magazine '…de cultu civili estonico/Estonian Culture' has come out.
The current issue of the biannual English-language magazine looks on a number of events that are hot during this summer. For example the article about the summer theatre in Estonia by Jaak Allik and an article about football and its place in the Estonian national identity by Alvar Loog.
Some articles have a bit more historical content: Igor Garšnek gives an overview of the history and heyday of the Estonian Music Days, Alo Joosepson discusses the collective identities in the Estonian war films, Urmas Dresen tells about the seafaring on the Baltic Sea during the Middle Ages and Valter Ojakäär introduces singer Georg Ots — to name but a few of the titles in ‘Estonian Culture’.
‘Estonian Culture’ is distributed by the Estonian Institute in Tallinn and its branch offices in Budapest, Stockholm, Helsinki and Paris, as well as through the Estonian embassies and consulates, and also to universities where Estonian is being taught.
Besides articles in English, the online version of the magazine also contains a selection of originals in Estonian.
