In the English-language biannual publication, Sirje Olesk writes about the legendary literary group Young Estonia, Jaak Akker gives an overview of the Estonian Translators’ Seminar in Sweden, Janika Kronberg writes about the Estonian diplomats in Estonian literature. As always, the magazine offers short overviews about recent books, by Kronberg and Rutt Hinrikus.
Aare Pilv examines the work ofJürgen Rooste, some of whose poems are also presented; Andres Langemets writes about the place of Lennart Meri in Estonian literature and Eve Süvalep gives an overview about Betti Alver, with some poems added. Another author is Hasso Krull, winner of this year’s Juhan Liiv Poetry Prize for his poem published in the current ‘Elm’.
The magazine is available at the Estonian Institute in Tallinn and in the EI offices in Helsinki, Stockholm, Budapest and Paris.
