The First Recipients of the Estophilus Scholarship

The Council of Academic Studies of Estonian Language and Culture Abroad has selected the first recipients of the Estophilus scholarship. The scholarship is intended to support studies and research carried out in Estonia by academically advanced students of foreign universities interested in the Estonian language and culture.
This was the first time the scholarship was granted. The Council received 18 applications and decided to grant five scholarships: one for two semesters and four for one semester.

The first recipients of the Estophilus scholarship and the topics of their research are as follows:

Uwe Sperling  The emergence and development of Bronze-Age settlement in the Eastern Baltic. Asva group of settlements
Yves Bernd Partschefeld Social integration and cultural identity of the Russian minority in Estonia
Antoine Chalvin Estonian language, literature and society
Armen Mazmanyan Court and politics: Institutional design of constitutional courts
Ekaterina Kladova Expressing part and whole in the grammar of the Baltic Finnic languages
